Kharak Planet Resource by tefeari Kharak Planet Resource by tefeari
This is my third planet, but a good one. It is a remake of the planet Kharak, featured in the RTS classic game: Homeworld.

I also have a full source version complete with 32 layers available on my server at [link]

Feel free to use it, just send me a note so that I can see what you did with it.

Hi, would you still have the original 32-layered PSD? your link is broken.

Do I see a large island in the middle of the southern polar see there?

I love this one... where did you get the cloud layer from?

It's a blending of a bunch of cloud images from satellite photos.

By that I mean I would take little parts from various places, like dust storms for the deserts, and clouds for the oasises and blend them together. [link] here's a great place to find them from. Or you can just search for the all earth cloud map and there's a super high resolution planet sized one.

thank you for the hints and the link! You know, I was thinking about creating a planet myself (you inspired me to do so:D). May I eventually use your kharak-cloud-cover from the PSD-file you posted for my own deviation? Of course, I would credit you and send you a note linking to it, so you can judge it ^^

Tefari, I used your version of Kharak here: [link]

Had to flip the planetary shadows... I hope you didn't mind :)

No prob, that's what I put the layers in for. I had all my WIP versions up to the finished one and an incomplete burned kharak image on my server here: [link] incase you like any of those better for anything, feel free to use them too, just spell my name right next time you give me credit ;) it's "Tefeari"

It's a RAR file, Winrar or just about any more all-purpose extractor program can open it for you. I used RAR because it's one of the best PSD compressing formats.

You never saw this?! :p there was a HUGE thread on Relic Forums as I was making it, there were like 20 versions evolving up to this. I had another version of it after it was burned but it was never as finished.

If your interested in seeing the evolving versions they're all here, including some reference pictures and the burned version I never finished. [link] Btw, this is the fiction version refered to in the manual with the polar oceans.

Heh, of yourse I saw the thread. IIRC, I even did a small map with the location of the Hunon Mountains and the Majiirian ocean and the various deserts to help you place all that stuff.
I meant I didn't see it HERE, or I'd have faved it sooner. ;)

Yea I used your map in the planet I think, those mountains if you can see them should still be the ones you drew. I didn't have time to replace them with photorealistic ones =p.
